Peter Hopsicker, professor of kinesiology, has been named associate vice provost for Faculty Affairs, effective Jan. 24, 2025. Hopsicker will oversee tenure and tenure-line promotion processes across all academic units and provide strategic leadership in the implementation of policies, planning and other initiatives that affect faculty at Penn State.
A draft proposal of Penn State’s institutional strategic plan has been unveiled and shared with the community for feedback and discussion. All faculty, staff and students at all campuses are encouraged to visit the Strategic Plan website to review and provide feedback on the draft plans for four goal areas.
The Penn State Alumni Association (PSAA) has announced a $20,000 matching commitment that will grow the scholarship endowment recently established in honor of 2024 Renaissance Fund honorees Roger Williams, retired PSAA executive director, and his wife, Karen Magnuson, retired assistant director of University marketing. In recognition of the Renaissance Fund’s 55th anniversary, the PSAA will match gifts of $550 or more to any named Renaissance Fund with an equal contribution to the Roger L. Williams and Karen L. Magnuson Renaissance Fund.

Ron Darbeau, chancellor and dean at Penn State Altoona, has been named associate vice president for Commonwealth Campuses in Penn State’s Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, effective Aug. 1. In addition to his new duties, Darbeau will continue to serve as chancellor and dean at Altoona.
